Framing
in Ventura and Santa Barbara, CA

Cedar Sun Construction self-performs structural and non-structural framing across Ventura and Santa Barbara counties for new construction, additions, and remodels.

About our framing work

What Cedar Sun does on a framing project.

Framing is the backbone of every project we do. We frame from engineered plans, work to the structural engineer's calcs, and follow current California Building Code for shear walls, hold-downs, and lateral bracing. Our framing scope covers ground-up new construction, second-story additions, room additions and bump-outs, garage conversions to ADUs, load-bearing wall removals during remodels, and rough framing for decks and pergolas. We handle all the rough hardware (Simpson straps, hold-downs, hangers), set window and door bucks to manufacturer specs, and coordinate with the framing inspector at every required stage. Because we self-perform this scope, we can keep the schedule tight and the structural details clean.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about framing.

Do you frame from any architect's plans?

Yes. We frame from any set of stamped engineered plans. If you don't have engineering yet, we can recommend a structural engineer we work with regularly.

Can you remove a load-bearing wall?

Yes, with the proper structural engineering and permit. We size the beam, install temporary shoring during demo, set the new beam, and tie everything back together with Simpson hardware to engineering specs.

How long does framing a single-story addition take?

A 400 to 800 square foot single-story addition typically takes 2 to 3 weeks to frame, weather depending. Two-story additions add another 2 weeks for the upper floor and roof.

Do you frame ADUs?

Yes. ADUs use the same framing skills as any new construction; the structural details are just at a smaller scale. We frame both detached ADUs and attached additions.
