About our concrete work work

What Cedar Sun does on a concrete work project.

We pour concrete on most of our own projects rather than subbing it out, which keeps the schedule tight and the quality on us. Our concrete scope covers conventional spread footings and stem walls for new construction, slab-on-grade foundations for ADUs and additions, post-tensioned slabs when required by soils reports, structural retaining walls with proper drainage and rebar, driveways and sidewalks, patios, equipment pads, and site curbs. Every pour gets the right mix design, proper rebar or post-tension cable layout per engineering, and a final inspection before backfill. We work with local concrete suppliers in Ventura, Oxnard, Camarillo, Santa Barbara, and Goleta and can usually pour within a week of permit approval.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about concrete work.

How long does a foundation pour take?

A residential foundation from form-up through final pour and stripping typically runs 1 to 2 weeks. Cure time before framing starts is usually 7 to 10 days depending on the mix.

Do you handle retaining walls with drainage?

Yes. Retaining walls over 4 feet require engineering and permits. We install the rebar cage to engineering specs, set proper drain rock and perforated pipe behind the wall, and pour to finish-grade.

Can you saw-cut and demo existing concrete?

Yes. We saw-cut and remove existing slabs, driveways, and patios as part of remodels and additions, including hauling debris off site.

What concrete mix do you use for driveways?

Standard residential driveways use a 3,000 to 4,000 PSI mix with 4-inch slab thickness over compacted base, with rebar or fiber reinforcement. Heavy-vehicle areas get 4,500 PSI and 6 inches.
